My husband and I were very fortunate to see the island again. It’s been almost 11 years ago since we’ve been there. It changed a lot in terms of infrastructure but the people, the spirit of traditional Filipino tropical island hospitality and simplicity and the beauty and wonder of the island still remains.
Bok and I waited for sunset on our second night on the island. We watched the sail boats pass by the horizon as the sun mirrors across the ocean. At that same moment, I felt happy. Happy to see that I am with the same person whom I saw this same sunset years ago.
How time flies. I am happy I have captured this backdrop of Boracay and with Bok as my main subject, it made this my favorite shot during our vacation back home.
On this blog, I will share a wide variety of recipes of my own version. I remember, started helping in the kitchen at the age of about 8, probably even younger, I just don’t remember exactly. My mom let us help by slicing green beans and potatoes using a butter knife just to get the hang of being in the kitchen. It was indirectly know that my kitchen skills were upgraded when I was allowed to hold a kitchen peeler and started working on peeling turnips for our mid-afternoon snack after playing with friends in our old childhood apartment in Loyola Heights, Katipunan. Oh, I also do remember that when I am able to chop onions back then, that means I am truly a big kid and I am in control of what I’m doing 🙂 I still remember that feeling. I was really excited about being able to help out in the kitchen.
Growing up with both parents working, my siblings and I learned specific chores at home. We were given specific responsibilities and these became our training ground. My home, my parents and my childhood was definitely my foundation and it helped me learn to love what I have and appreciate the small things I own.
I discovered making my own Kimchi back in 2008. Thanks to Maangchi, I am now a certified home-made kimchi maker. At first, it was a challenge, then after I made my first successful batch, it was addicting.
Using fresh ingredients, I am sure of the taste and quality of what I am making. Makes it perfect to create other kimchi recipes like kimchi pancake, kimchi soup, kimchi fried rice and a lot more!!! Funny, I got my husband hooked-up on eating kimchi. He says I have influenced him to eat a lot of food he never imagined himself eating (i.e., squash, oatmeal, etc.).

Finally, a blog site where I can hopefully religiously share my posts about me and my world. It took months for me to decide where to finally create an account and I have chosen wordpress in the end. Why? I don’t know, maybe because of the color scheme and the simplicity of the themes I see online.
I’m really excited about this! I actually don’t know where to start but I guess by writing this, I have already started my first post.
There’s a lot going on in my mind. I want to say this, I want to say that, do I have to mention this, should I mention that! Ha ha! Let me pause for a few moments…. To my reader/s (or just myself if I will be the only one reading this), thank you for spending time to visit my blog site.

I can’t believe I am doing this! Again, finally…. I am learning to do this. I wanted to do this since way back in 2007 but I never started it. I attempted several times but each one did not succeed. I hope this time, my photos will be seen by people and I wish that these beginner shots will be appreciated.
Photo was taken using my Nikon camera purchased last December for my family’s trip to Manila, Philippines and Hong Kong. I acquired a new 35mm fixed lens this month and I tested my shots on this beautiful lavender plant gifted to me by Bok. This flower is sitting right on our patio on a window planter facing northwest.
